Doctoral Colloquium 2025 Summer

Osijek Doctoral Colloquium 2025 Summer served a total of 21 student attendees and took place between 30 June and 25 July 2025. During the Summer Program, there were 9 students in Osijek (Croatia), 8 students in Almaty (Kazakhstan), and 4 student participants online.

The greatest benefit was the opportunity for focused, uninterrupted research in a supportive academic environment. The structured silence and shared commitment among participants created a unique space for deep theological reflection and writing. I was able to revise a complex research question with valuable input from both peers and mentors, something that would have taken much longer in isolation. I greatly appreciated the work of the supervisors whose guidance was both thoughtful and encouraging. The overall atmosphere was marked by a supportive community, brotherly spirit, and a genuinely friendly environment. The meals were tasty, and the variety of quiet study spaces made it easy to find the right setting for different research tasks. Above all, what stood out was the shared spirit of study — a genuine desire among all participants to know more, go deeper, and grow together in theological understanding” (Summer 2025 ODC participant).

The overall spirit of the colloquium—a shared desire to go deeper in theological reflection—made this experience not only productive but truly meaningful” (Summer 2025 ODC participant).

To see how different students approached complex theological questions—this sharpened my own thinking and exposed me to methods and sources I had not considered. Hearing both well-developed arguments and honest struggles gave a realistic picture of doctoral work and offered valuable insight into how ideas mature” (Summer 2025 ODC participant).

The most helpful aspect of ODC was the overall spirit of study — the brotherly atmosphere, the shared hunger to go deeper into God’s Word, and the space for honest theological wrestling. The community was supportive, the food was excellent, and the environment was conducive to study, with many spaces available for focused work. Overall, I am deeply thankful for this time. It was a season of growth — academically, spiritually, and relationally” (Summer 2025 ODC participant).

It is always a blessing to be able to come to Osijek and spend productive time, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. It is encouraging to see others who are on the same journey, persevering and contributing to the accumulation of knowledge. Thank you again for making this time possible for the ODC Team and for sponsoring it. I really appreciate it and I pray that God blesses you abundantly!” (Summer 2025 ODC participant)
